Overflowing Rivers Force Kampung Pulo Citizens to Fled

A major flooding has hit citizen residential due to overflowing Ciliwung River after heavy rain over the last two days in the capital since Sunday (8/2) until Monday (9/2). One of the heavily affected areas included Kampung Pulo, Kampung Melayu, Jatinegara, East Jakarta.

Until 7 PM, the water level in Kampung Pulo has touched 2.5 meters and force 356 citizens to fled at four points. As many as six rubber boats also prepared to evacuate the flood victims.

Jatinegara Sub-District Head, Syofian taher disclosed that flood inundated 8 RWs and 55 RTs. As for the number of flood victims is 2,899 households or 7,809 people.

While for the refugee camps, were already set up in the office of East Jakarta Health Sub-Department (236 refugees), Hermina Hospital (51 refugees), At-Tawabin Mosque (34 refugees), and RW 03 Post (35 refugees). To evacuate flood victims, as many as 100 joint personnel of East Jakarta Satpol PP, army/police, and Fire and Rescue Management Sub-Department have been deployed to Kampung Pulo.

Safrudin, (40), a citizen of RT 03/03 Kampung Pulo expressed the overflowing rivers began to hit his residential at 9 AM. "To citizens, we have announced that the water would back to rise at 11 PM. That's why some residents have started to fled," he disclosed.
